Winter 2025

We continue to profile members of the Trinity Â鶹ƵµÀ – individuals who are making an impact and inspire others to make a difference!

Trinity’s Director of Immunology Professor Jasty Singh has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to student learning. Read about her full-circle moment and why she loves to teach.

For Black History Month we share the story of Alexander Augusta. He was the first black medical student in Canada West – and Trinity’s first Black student. To honour Dr. Augusta’s courage and significant contributions to medicine and society, his portrait “Mend” by Gordon Shadrach hangs in Seeley Hall.

 


Fall 2023

This term, we will be profiling student researchers and their work related to academic studies, college initiatives and activities outside of the classroom.

Among recipients of the Ontario Graduate Scholarship are Faculty of Divinity PhD candidates Father Bohdan Hladio and Samuel Lau. Learn what vexing question Fr. Hladio is studying within Eastern Orthodoxy and learn about Samuel’s PhD research on the problem of race and cultural diversity in Christian theology.

 


Winter 2023

Many students of the COVID-19 cohort – who enter university in 2019-2020 when the pandemic hit – will be graduating this June 2023! We’re profiling a few of our #TrinityGrad23 graduands as they reflect on their university experiences.

Trinity’s 2023 U of T Student Leadership Award Recipient: Yash Sharma is among seven Â鶹ƵµÀ graduating students to be recognized with a 2023 UTSLA for outstanding student leadership, volunteer service, and commitment to the university and college. Â鶹ƵµÀ Community Advisors Program: Through peer-based Â鶹ƵµÀ development and programming in residence, Trinity’s Community Advisors (CAs) Program has been incredibly successful in supporting an engaged residence Â鶹ƵµÀ at the College. We chatted with one of the Senior CAs for 2022-2023 – Ndidi Arimah – to learn about life as a CA and her university experiences.

International Women’s Day: March 8, 2023

For International Women’s Day 2023, learn about inspiring members of Trinity Â鶹ƵµÀ: from alumnae who were Canada’s first female lawyer and the first female to hold a doctorate in computer science, to the College’s first tenured woman faculty member and women leaders of St. Hilda’s College.

Trinity’s Wellness Team continues their profile series to celebrate and highlight our amazing staff and faculty at Â鶹ƵµÀ. In honouring the work of these individuals, we hope that our students and the Â鶹ƵµÀ can get to know each other better these coming months! In honour of Asian Heritage Month, we are pleased to begin with Bingbin Cheng!

We share the (Class of 1959). Faced with innumerable challenges throughout her life, Mary has not only persevered, as her parents taught her. She has also become a lifelong educator, a hero in the fight against injustice and a tireless advocate for the truth. On May 10, 2022, she received an honorary degree from Â鶹ƵµÀ in recognition of her long and distinguished service including her leadership concerning the Japanese-Canadian Â鶹ƵµÀ as well as the wider Â鶹ƵµÀ, and her tireless work as an educator and advocate in heightening awareness of racism, intolerance, and injustice.
